释义

动词

一般指交通工具转换成反方向行驶。也称 U 转。

DEFINITION

Verb

To describe a vehicle that is reversing its direction of travel. Also known in Mandarin as “U”.

由来
  • “调” 有调换位置的意思。而 U 转则是英语 “U-turn” 的意译。
  • 新加坡的广东话、客家话和潮州话等方言都用 “调头” 一词表达调转回头的意思。
  • 根据新加坡驾驶理论,U 转告示牌分为两种,一种代表 “前方有 U 转处”,另一种代表 “附有车辆重量限制的 U 转处”。U 转告示牌的设计是在浅蓝色长方形背景中画上白色的倒 U 字形箭头。
ETYMOLOGY
  • The Chinese character “” means “to change position” and the Mandarin term “U” is a paraphrase of the English term “U-turn”.
  • Chinese dialects in Singapore such as Cantonese, Hakka, and Teochew use “调头” to refer to “turning around”.
  • According to Singapore’s Basic Theory of Driving, there are two types of U-turn signs, one representing “U-turn facility ahead” and the other representing “U-turn with vehicle weight restriction”. The design of the U-turn signs is a white, inverted U-shaped arrow on a light blue rectangular background.
