The Speak Mandarin Campaign “My Story” Public Speaking Competition was first launched in 2017, as an island-wide oratorical competition targeted at local students and teenagers between 13 and 18 years of age, to provide them with a platform to share their inspiring stories. The competition, now in its third edition, also aims to hone the oratorical and presentation skills of these participants, as well as build their confidence in expressing themselves in Mandarin.
Auditions
Auditions were held on Saturday, 6 July 2019.
Grand Finals
The Grand Finals were held on Sunday, 28 July 2019, and comprised of 2 parts.
Part 1
12 finalists will compete to be shortlisted. They will each present a 90 second speech based on the topic “My Story”.
Part 2
6 shortlisted finalists will each present a 90 second speech based on the topic “My Growing Up Story”. Each finalist will also be given 60 seconds to speak on a given topic in the improvisation segment.
The audience had a chance to vote for their favourite contestant.
