ETYMOLOGY
  • The Mandarin term “公园连道” is a paraphrase of the English term “park connector”.
  • The concept of a network of greenways was introduced by the Singapore Government in 1990. In 1991, the Park Connector Network proposal was adopted by the Garden City Action Committee.
  • The Park Connector Network aims to improve connectivity between parks, nature reserves, and HDB estates, while providing accessible recreational options for Singaporeans.
  • The concept of the Park Connector Network is to enhance recreational space by converting drainage reserves into “green corridors” between parks.
