  • 草粿草(Platostoma palustre)又名仙人草,即 “仙草” 一词的由来。
  • 仙草是来自中国东南沿海地区的著名小吃,常常作为配料加入各种甜品中,或直接当饮料食用,后者也称仙草水。
  • 有说法认为仙草有清热消暑的效果,因此在亚洲多个地区都广受欢迎,主要用来制作清爽可口的甜品。
  • 新加坡的特色饮料 “黑白”(也称 “Michael Jackson”),就是在豆奶中加入仙草丝而得名。
ETYMOLOGY
  • Chinese mesona (Platostoma palustre) is also known in Mandarin as “仙人草” , which is the origin of the term “仙草” (grass jelly).
  • Grass jelly is a famous snack from China’s southeastern coastal areas. It is often added to various desserts as a topping, or consumed directly as a beverage known in Mandarin as “仙草水”. 
  • It is believed that grass jelly has cooling properties, making it popular in many parts of Asia, where it is mainly used to make refreshing and delicious desserts.
  • Singapore’s special drink “黑白” (also known as “Michael Jackson”) is named after adding shredded grass jelly to soya bean milk.
