Noun
A bridge near the mouth of the Singapore River, connecting North Bridge Road and South Bridge Road. Also known as “爱琴桥”, “水仙门吊桥” or “大马路桥”.
As Elgin Bridge is located in the heart of the “水仙门” area, it is also known as “水仙门吊桥” (literally, “bridge at 水仙门”). The “水仙门” area was extensive, centred around the site of present day High Street Centre located at North Boat Quay.
