  • 英语 “drinking water” 的意译。
  • 在新加坡,水喉流出的自来水是可以直接饮用的洁净食水。
  • 新加坡的食水水质安全依据世界卫生组织所指定的《饮用水水质准则》(Guidelines for Drinking-Water Quality)。
  • 自来水工厂会先从蓄水池抽取生水,然后进行处理、过滤和消毒,以去除水中的有害细菌和病毒,称为食水。
  • 从 2003 年 2 月开始,公用事业局(Public Utilities Board)每天把 200 万加仑的新生水注入蓄水池与天然水进行混合,再处理为食水供应给公众。

ETYMOLOGY
  • The Mandarin “食水” is a paraphrase of the English term “drinking water”.
  • In Singapore, tap water is potable and can be consumed directly.
  • The safety of Singapore’s drinking water in is based on the Guidelines for Drinking-Water Quality, as specified by the World Health Organisation.
  • Water treatment plants draw water from reservoirs that is subsequently treated, filtered, and decontaminated to remove harmful bacteria and viruses. The final product is known as drinking water.
  • Since February 2003, the Public Utilities Board has injected 2 million gallons of NEWater into the reservoirs daily. The mixture of NEWater and natural water is then treated and supplied to the public as drinking water.
  • In 1998, to meet the future needs of new developments in the city area, the Singapore Government installed water pipelines in Marina Bay to transport and supply drinking water.
  • SingSpring, the first seawater desalination plant in Singapore, supplies between 10 million and 30 million gallons of drinking water daily.
