  • 源自福建话 lau deng（楼顶）。
  • “楼顶” 一词借入新加坡华语后，在口语及书面语中皆有使用。
  • “楼顶” 一词也借入到马来语（loteng），其词义有所扩大，可指天花板。
  • “楼脚”，即福建话 lau kar，是楼顶的反义词，意思为楼下。
ETYMOLOGY
  • The Mandarin term “楼顶” originated from the Hokkien term lau deng.
  • The term “楼顶” is used in both spoken and written Mandarin in Singapore.
  • The term “楼顶” is also used in Malay as loteng, and its meaning has been extended to refer to ceiling.
  • The Mandarin term “楼脚”, or lau kar in Hokkien, which means downstairs, is the antonym of “楼顶”.
