由来
  • 19世纪时期，新加坡大部分的住屋与其他建筑物以木材建造，而人们以火来烹饪和照明，为此火患屡见不鲜。1888年新加坡消防部队（Singapore Fire Brigade, SFB）正式成立。
  • 1891年，克罗士街消防局（Cross Street Station）成为新加坡第一家消防局。1908年，禧街消防局（Hill Street Fire Station）建成，1950年改名为中央消防局（Central Fire Station）。
  • 新加坡消防部队早期主要负责救火服务，很少提供民防方面的服务。到了1949年，当时的政府推出了民防计划（Civil Defence Plan），之后成立了新加坡民防队（Singapore Civil Defence Corps）。
  • 国家民防计划（National Civil Defence Plan）于1982年推出，而后于1986年制定了民防法（Civil Defence Act）。在民防法的制定下，同年也成立了新加坡民防部队（Singapore Civil Defence Force, SCDF）。
  • 1989年，新加坡消防服务（Singapore Fire Service, SFS）与新加坡民防部队合体为新加坡联合民防部队（Singapore Joint Civil Defence Force），并于1992年改名为新加坡民防部队（Singapore Civil Defence Forces, SCDF），沿用至今。
ETYMOLOGY
  • In the nineteenth century, most of the houses and buildings in Singapore were made of wood, and people used fire for cooking and lighting. Therefore, fires were common. In 1888, the Singapore Fire Brigade (SFB) was officially established.
  • In 1891, the Cross Street Station became the first fire station in Singapore. Hill Street Fire Station was built in 1908, and was renamed Central Fire Station in 1950.
  • In its early days, SFB mainly provided firefighting services and rarely provided civil defence services. In 1949, the then government rolled out the Civil Defence Plan, and later established the Singapore Civil Defence Corps.
  • The National Civil Defence Plan was launched in 1982, and the Civil Defence Act was enacted in 1986. Under the Civil Defence Act, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was established in the same year.
  • In 1989, the Singapore Fire Service (SFS) and the Singapore Civil Defence Force were merged into the Singapore Joint Civil Defence Force. In 1992, it was renamed the Singapore Civil Defence Forces (SCDF), a name still used today.
