A statutory body that manages the grassroot organisations in Singapore.

由来
  • 1960年，人民协会成立，目的是鼓励人们参与各项社区文化活动，以促进种族和谐与团结，也促进政府与人民之间的互动。
  • 人民协会的主席由总理担任，副主席与八名委员由主席委任，其他委员由主席与本地各个社团组织讨论后选出，财务秘书则从现有的委员中委任。
  • 作为法定机构，人民协会也负责管理本地各个基层组织，包括公民咨询委员会（Citizens’ Consultative Committees，CCCs）、民众俱乐部管理委员会（Community Centre/Club Management Committees，CCMCs）、居民委员会 （Residents’ Committee, RCs）、民众俱乐部和民众联络所。
ETYMOLOGY
  • The People’s Association (PA) was founded in 1960, with the purpose of encouraging residents’ participation in various community cultural activities, to foster racial harmony and promote interaction between the government and the people.
  • The PA is helmed by the Prime Minister, while the vice-chairman and eight committee members are appointed by the PM. The remaining members of the committee are appointed by the PM after discussions with local organisations. The secretary-treasurer is appointed from within the committee.
  • As a statutory board, the PA is also responsible for the management of all grassroot organisations in Singapore, including the Citizens’ Consultative Committees (CCCs), Community Centre/Club Management Committee (CCMCs), Residents’ Committee (RCs), Community Clubs and Community Centres.
