  • 1956 年，新加坡植物园开始启动“贵宾胡姬花”（VIP Orchids）计划。在该计划下，新加坡将以来访的外国领导人、贵宾和名人名称命名选定的配种胡姬花，以表示我国对贵客的敬意。
  • 国家胡姬园（National Orchid Garden）会在贵宾到访的两周前选定合适的胡姬花，随后在英国皇家园艺学会（Royal Horticultural Society）进行国际注册。
  • 首个以贵宾名称命名的胡姬花是安·柏立基蜻蜓兰（Aranthera Anne Black），源于本地前任总督罗伯·柏立基爵士（Sir Robert Black）的妻子安妮布莱克夫人（Lady Anne Black）。
  • 公众可以到新加坡植物园（Singapore Botanic Gardens）内的国家胡姬园观赏以贵宾名称所命名的胡姬花。
ETYMOLOGY
  • In 1956, the Singapore Botanic Gardens started the VIP Orchids programme, in which Singapore shows its respect for visiting foreign leaders, distinguished guests, and famous persons by naming selected orchid hybrids after them.
  • The National Orchid Garden will select suitable orchids two weeks before the VIP’s (Very Important Person) visit and register the flowers with the Royal Horticultural Society.
  • The first orchid named after a VIP is Aranthera Anne Black, named after Lady Anne Black, the wife of Sir Robert Black, a former governor of Singapore.
  • The public can visit the National Orchid Garden at the Singapore Botanic Gardens to view the orchids named after VIPs.
