  2. 指一次就完成某件事情。

DEFINITION

Adjective

  1. Used to describe something that happens only once.

由来
  • 有一说为英语“one-off”的意译。
  • 这个词语在新加坡经常用于两种情况,意思和重点不同。
  1. 形容词,形容这个动作或事件只有“一次”而没有第二次(如“登记费是一次过十元”)。
  2. 动量词,强调这个时段一次性地完成或做了什么事情(如“我一次过读完五本书”)。

ETYMOLOGY
  • The Mandarin term “一次过” appears to be a paraphrase of the English term “one-off”.
  • In Singapore, the term can be used in two different ways:
  1. To describe something that only needs to be done once, and never again. For example: “The registration fee is a one-off payment of S$10.”
To emphasise that something has been completed or done all at once within a short period of time. For example: “I read five books at one go.”
