A former large leisure and entertainment venue located at the intersection of Serangoon Road and Kitchener Road.
由来
- 新世界是新加坡首座大型娱乐消闲场所，占地40,000多平方公尺，是1920至1960年代首屈一指的娱乐场所。
- 1923年，商人王文达和弟弟王平福以王三龙公司的名义，共同创立了当时最具规模的新世界游艺场。
- 到了1930年代，和王三龙公司共同发展新世界的邵氏兄弟收购了游艺场的所有股权。
- 新世界里的演出种类繁多，包括歌唱、舞蹈、舞台剧、戏曲等。
- 游乐场里除了有一座标志性的摩天轮，还有电影院、舞厅等休闲设施。
- 随着娱乐消闲渠道的增加和到访人数的减少，新世界最终于在1987年关闭，并在随后被拆除。
- 2011年，在经过了12个星期的翻修工作后，做为新世界标志的大门正式揭幕。这扇大门位于花拉公园（Farrer Park）地铁站出口旁，由此可通往建在新世界旧址的城市广场（City Square Mall）。
ETYMOLOGY
- New World Amusement Park was the first large-scale leisure and entertainment venue in Singapore, with an area of more than 40,000 square metres. It was the leading recreational spot from the 1920s to the 1960s.
- In 1923, businessman Ong Boon Tat and his younger brother, Ong Peng Hock, established New World Amusement Park under the name of their company, Ong Sam Leong & Co.
- In the 1930s, the Shaw Brothers, who jointly owned New World Amusement Park with Ong Sam Leong & Co, acquired all the shares.
- New World offered a wide variety of entertainment, including singing, dancing, theatre and opera.
- In addition to its iconic Ferris wheel, other facilities included cinemas and dance halls.
- With the increase in entertainment options and a decline in the number of patrons in the 1970s and 1980s, New World eventually closed in 1987 and was subsequently demolished.
- In 2011, the original gateway of New World Amusement Park was refurbished and installed next to the exit of Farrer Park MRT leading to City Square Mall, which sits on New World’s former site.

- In 1921, businessman Lim Teck Kim built an amusement park in Tanjong Pagar. After New World Amusement Park opened in 1923, the older park was referred to as “老世界” (meaning “Old World”) to distinguish it from the newer one.
