释义

动词

原指以水渍湿透身体,比喻身历其境,在新加坡一般指体验外地风俗文化,让自己更了解其语言、文化等。

DEFINITION

Verb

The term “浸濡” originally means to be soaked, but has come to be used as a metaphor for immersing oneself in a situation. In Singapore, it generally refers to experiencing foreign cultures first-hand.

ETYMOLOGY
  • The term is closely related to education in Singapore, specifically in relation to students who are on exchange programmes or are studying abroad. For example, the Chinese Language Elective Programme (CLEP), established by the Ministry of Education in 1990, aims to cultivate bilingual talents and improve students’ proficiency and literacy in Chinese. The two-year programme features an overseas immersion component, which involves learning trips to Beijing, Shanghai or Taipei.
  • In 2005, to encourage the learning of Chinese language and culture, the Ministry of Education launched a four-year Bicultural Studies Programme (Chinese), or BSP(C), in some selected Special Assistance Plan (SAP) schools, which includes immersion programmes in China.
例句
从明年起,为期两年的语特开放给中三学生,他们必须修华文文学O水准科目。在直通车学校上课的学生则修校本的华文文学科。除此之外,学生将参加语特营、写作营、文学讲座和浸濡计划等增益活动。(《联合晚报》,28/5/2019)
SAMPLE SENTENCE
From next year, a two-year Chinese Language Elective Programme (CLEP) will be open to Secondary 3 students, which requires them to take “O” Level Chinese Literature. For students in Integrated Programme (IP) Schools, they will take a school-based Chinese Literature subject instead. In addition, students will get to participate in activities such as CLEP camps, writing camps, literature lectures and immersion programmes to deepen their knowledge. (Lianhe Wanbao, 28/5/2019)
