A mandatory savings scheme where both the employer and employee contribute a monthly amount. 

由来
  • 新加坡于1955年由当时的英国殖民地政府推行中央公积金制度,由法定机构中央公积金局 (Central Provident Fund Board,简称“公积金局”) 管理国人的公积金。
  • 所有受雇职员必须定期缴交公积金,一般是薪金的 10%至20%,而雇主也必须为雇员缴交一定的公积金。
  • 国人可在住屋、保险、投资、教育、医药方面,使用他们的公积金储蓄。
  • 1970年代,公积金推出“特别户头” (Special Account),为国人累积更多储蓄作为退休金。1984年设立保健储蓄户头 (MediSave Account),帮助国人为医药开销做准备。1990年,公积金推出健保双全计划 (MediShield) 来帮助国人支付慢性与严重病症的医药开销。
ETYMOLOGY
  • In 1955, the British colonial government implemented the Central Provident Fund (CPF) system in Singapore. The Central Provident Fund Board, a statutory board, manages the retirement funds of the people.
  • All employees are required to make regular contributions to their CPF, which is usually 10–20% of their salary. Employers are also required to make contributions to their employees’ CPF.
  • Members can use their CPF savings in matters related to housing, insurance, investment, education and medical needs.
  • In 1970s, the CPF Board introduced the Special Account to help members accumulate more savings as retirement funds. The MediSave Account was established in 1984 to prepare members for future medical expenses. In 1990, the MediShield scheme was introduced to help members cope with the financial costs incurred from chronic and critical illnesses.
