The objective of the competition is to promote a strong affinity towards the Tamil Language by empowering participants to use the language to the best of their ability.
It will target the family members (with students and working members) to love Tamil and speak Tamil and the programme will help the participants to gain critical thinking skills and acquire public speaking skills. With the concept of family debate, we hope to achieve quality time being spent by the family members while they prepare for the debate and tap on to each other’s strength and knowledge.
1. A Team comprises of four members from a family (parents; children of any age, grandparents and working family members) will debate on topics such as culture, language, community development, and personal development. The debate team members are encouraged to be from the same family. However families with insufficient members are allowed to add a maximum of two members from another family.
2. All participants must be Singaporeans, PR or Dependent Pass Holders.
3. Youth from educational institutions are encouraged to lead the family teams. The judges will select the winning team based on their level of performance, team-work, clarity, spoken Tamil language competency, usage of cross-examination and rebuttal techniques, presentation skills etc., The judges decisions will be final.
4. Prizes:
1st Prize: $500 (Gift Voucher) & Champion Challenge trophy and a Mini Trophy
2nd Prize: $300 (Gift Voucher) and a Mini Trophy
3rd Prize: $200 (Gift Voucher) and a mini Trophy
4th to 10th : Consolation Prizes $50 (Gift Vouchers) each.
Best Speakers of each round – Certificates of Recognition.
All successfully registered/qualified teams will be debating only one round on any of the following dates:
2/3 April 2022; (3pm to 4.30pm) –[Starting Date: 2.4.2022]
9/10 April 2022; (3pm to 4.30pm)
16/17 April 2022; (3pm to 4.30pm)
23/24 April 2022; (3pm to 4.30pm)
1. The top 3rd and 4th team will be debating for the 3rd Prize on: 30 April 2022. (3pm to 4.30pm)
FINAL Round: The top two teams will be debating on 1 May 2022 (3pm to 4.30pm) for the Champion and runners-up placing.
