Tamil Language Council

The Council serves to promote the awareness and greater use of Tamil language among Singaporeans. It aims to popularise the Tamil Language, particularly among the young, and to work with government agencies, educational institutions, social organisations and individuals to achieve the objectives.

Tamil Language Festival 2024

The Tamil Language Festival 2024 took place from 30 March to 28 April. Featuring the theme of 'Capabilities', the festival featured 47 programmes by 48 partners, as the community came together to celebrate and promote the Tamil language in Singapore.

The Tamil Youth Festival 2024 will take place from 31 August to 8 September. Featuring the theme of 'Capabilities', the festival will feature 10 programmes by 10 partners, as the youths comes together to celebrate and promote the Tamil language in Singapore.

English-Tamil Glossary Book

Ministry of Digital Development and Information (formerly Ministry of Communications and Information), with support from the Tamil Language Council, produced a printed edition of the English to Tamil Glossary book.

The glossary serves as a resource, especially for students and Tamil language teachers in search of suitable translations for commonly used terms in Singapore.
