Dr Jayanthi Sri Balakrishnan, a renowned scholar in Creative writing and Literature translation will deliver the Lecture on 1st April 2022. Workshops will be conducted by Dr Jayanthi and selected local translation specialists.

• 15 min – Introduction and sharing about the contributions of Thamizhavel G Sarangapani
• 1 hour- Lecture by Dr Jayanthi
• 30 min - Question and Answer session
• 15 min – Summary and Feedback
Workshop 1 – Literary Translation (Day 1)
• Participants will learn to identify literary aspects of a text.
• Participants will learn to identify the key differences in how the elements are treated in different language (Sanskrit & TL or EL & TL)
• Participants will have a deeper insight to Cultural nuances
• There will be Hands on activities for the participants.
Workshop 2 - Contemporary translation
• Nature of translation
• Prioritising elements of text that go into creating meaning and determining the presentation of text in the translated language
• Identifying and relating to the target audience
• Translation in a multi-cultural and multi-lingual context
• Produce a literary work (individual submission)
(Certificates of participation and prizes for selected work will be awarded).
Selected works will be uploaded onto STTU’s website for teachers’ use.
