Kalaiyaakam is a dance competition open for student participation from JCs, Polytechnics, ITE and Universities. Participants would select a semi-classical or classical song from any poet (Bharathiyar, Bharathidasan, Kannadason, or others) and present an item. Before each performance, the team would need to narrate their poem and reflect the importance supporting the language.

Participants are judged based on the quality of speech, presentation style, dance choreography and coordination, and aesthetics.
