The contribution of U Ve Swaminatha Iyer popularly called U Ve Sa to Tamil language is immeasurable. With painstaking efforts and meagre resources he managed to bring many long-forgotten works of classical Tamil literature to light. His singular effort over five decades took him to the nooks and corners of the Tamil Nadu and he collected from several sources the Tamil works written in the palm leaves.  He then compared them, did the editing and proof reading with his excellent Tamil grammar and poetical knowledge and finally got them printed.

He brought to light major literary works and contributed vastly to the enrichment of its literary heritage.
U Ve Sa had published about 100 books in his lifetime, on a variety of matters connected to classical Tamil literature and music. He is affectionately called Tamil Thatha (Grandfather of Tamil) or Tamizh Thaththa. He passed away on 28th April 1942 and hence the lecture is being held on 28 April 2017.

Dr. So.So.Meenatchi Sundaram, a Tamil Scholar from Tamil Nadu will deliver the inaugural lecture and will share more insights on U Ve Sa’s selfless contributions to the Tamil Literary world.
