In the 16th century the whole of India was ruled by Vijayanagar Empire and led by King Krishnadevarayar. In his council, there were 8 wise men. The greatest of them all was Thenali Raman. He was able to seamlessly dispense wisdom through wit and humour.

The play will begin from the time of how he received the blessings from the goddess. Thenali then ventures and makes his way into the court of the kingdom. From there, the play will show how he overcame all plots against him to kill him and how he lived his life as a wise council to the king. Scenes would also show the value of education which Thenali regarded very highly and the importance of having a strong family bond.
