Kavichaaral is an ongoing series where Avant Theatre celebrates works of a local writer in a dramatic art form. For 2017, Avant Theatre will celebrate the works of Mr.Se.Ve.Shanmugam, one of the pioneer writers in Singapore's early years. Mr.Shanmugam’s works spread around the lifestyle of multi-racial Singapore and the triumphs and tribulations of Singapore Indians from the 1960s onwards.

The organisers are hoping, through this series, to continue celebrating local talents and their art forms so as to encourage more locals to come forward in championing Tamil through Arts or Literary forms.
