Students in Singapore learning Tamil as a second language are facing difficulties in grasping and appreciating the language. Situation becomes critical if Tamil is not spoken at home. Students must enjoy learning a language. One of the best ways to make it interesting is through a medium that can attract them. And that is music.  Film songs can captivate young minds. There is a generation in Singapore who grew up learning Tamil by enjoying Tamil songs over radio. This appreciation will motivate them to read and learn more.
