MAGO is an annual storytelling competition aimed at promoting Story-telling in a fun, engaging and creative fashion. Story telling is a time-honoured, age-old practice and in current times it’s one of the best ways to promote the appreciation and love for the Tamil language.
AKT launched MAGO, Tamil Storytelling Olympiad in 2012 and since then, the event has grown by leaps and bounds to host over 50 schools with more than 100 participants annually.

Objectives

1. Through storytelling, help our younger ones open vistas into our immediate past, and cherish our culture, history & heritage in the context of the present-day world.
2. Amaze audiences with surprising nuggets of insights about the everyday things we take for granted.
3. Inspire a more informed society which appreciates the beauty in cultural exchange between different languages & culture in our cosmopolitan society.

As we well know, our children are natural storytellers and their desire to participate in the Olympiad will fuel them to learn more about our society, culture and historical characters. By allowing our children to share stories about and of SG50 and beyond, especially those tales accompanied with meaningful messages, we will inculcate qualities such as wisdom, courage and integrity in our participants and audiences.
