三巴旺位于新加坡北部，北起柔佛海峡（Straits of Johor），东临新邦（Simpang），西至兀兰（Woodlands），南达万礼（Mandai）。

Sembawang is situated in the northern part of Singapore, bounded by the Straits of Johor to the north, Simpang to the east, Woodlands to the west, and Mandai to the south.

由来

据说“三巴旺”取名于三巴旺树（Sembawang Tree）。在1828年杰克森绘制的地图中（Jackson Plan），三巴旺河（Sungei Sembawang）以其旧称“River Tambuwang”标示。19世纪至20世纪初，三巴旺是甘蜜（gambier）、胡椒、树胶、黄梨等植物的种植地。
1923年，英军于三巴旺兴建海军基地。海军基地于1938年开始运作。当时的商家把握商机，纷纷到三巴旺开店，使三巴旺迅速发展。
1968年，新加坡政府接手海军基地并将它交由三巴旺船厂（Sembawang Shipyard）经营船厂。
如今，三巴旺有不少道路都是为了纪念该海军基地而命名，如加拿大路（Canada Road）与蒙特利路（Montreal Road）。
1990年代，三巴旺开始建设发展为新镇。
三巴旺路（Sembawang Road）建于1850年代初，为义顺（Yishun ）与三巴旺地区最古老的道路。它是在原名为实力达路（Seletar Road）的道路上重新铺设而成的。

ETYMOLOGY

It is said that Sembawang was named after the Sembawang Tree. In the Jackson Plan of 1828, “Sungei Sembawang” (Sembawang River) is indicated by its old name, “River Tambuwang”. In the 19th and early 20th century, there were gambier, pepper, rubber and pineapple plantations in Sembawang.
In 1923, the British Army started the construction of a naval base in Sembawang. Opened in 1938, the base was finally completed in 1941. At the time, local businesses seized the opportunity to set up shops in Sembawang, contributing to its growth.
In 1968, the Singapore Government took over the naval base, which was then developed into an operational shipyard by Sembawang Shipyard Pte Ltd.
Today, there are several roads around Sembawang, such as Canada Road and Montreal Road, which were named in commemoration of the British naval base.
Built in the 1930s, Sembawang Road is the oldest road in Yishun and Sembawang. It was constructed over a track which was then known as Seletar Road.
In the 1990s, Sembawang new town was developed.
