马来人和土生华人的传统服装，以一块长布当作围裙从胸口或腰部围住身体，也是东南亚多个地方的传统服装。也写作沙龙、沙笼、莎笼、纱囊、沙囊、沙郎等。

Noun

The traditional clothing of the Malays and Peranakan Chinese, which is a long piece of cloth that wraps around the body from the chest or waist like an apron. It is also a traditional costume in many parts of Southeast Asia. Also written in Mandarin as “沙龙”, “沙笼”, “莎笼”, “纱囊”, “沙囊”, and “沙郎”.

由来

马来语 sarong 的音译。
据说马来语中 sarong 原来的意思是套子，而马来语中最早指 “用来包裹身子的长布” 的词是 kain 。19 世纪初期，马来文的记录中才用 sarong 一词来形容 “包裹在身上的围裙”。
新加坡的标志之一 —— 新加坡航空（Singapore Airlines）空姐的纱笼卡峇雅（Sarong Kebaya）制服是 1968 年由法国服装大师皮埃尔·巴尔曼（Pierre Balmain）为马来西亚-新加坡航空公司设计的。1972 年，虽然该航空公司拆分成马来西亚航空公司（Malaysia Airlines）和新加坡航空公司，但这套服装仍保留为新航空姐制服。

ETYMOLOGY

The Mandarin term “纱笼” is a transliteration of the Malay term sarong.
It is believed that the original meaning of sarong in Malay is “cover”. In Malay, the earliest word that refers to “a long piece of cloth used to wrap around the body” is kain. In the early 19^th century, the term sarong was only used in Malay records to describe “an apron that wraps around the body”.
One of the symbols of Singapore, the sarong kebaya worn by female flight attendants from Singapore Airlines was designed by the French fashion designer Pierre Balmain for the Malaysia-Singapore Airlines in 1968. In 1972, although the airline was split into Malaysia Airlines and Singapore Airlines, the clothing remained as the uniform for Singapore Airlines’ female flight attendants.
