由来

叉车（叉式起重机）的异形词。
“叉”和“插”都对应英文“forklift”的“fork”。这种车的前方装有可升降的钢叉，以装载货物，因此名为“叉车”。由于钢叉在装载货物前会插入货物底下的托盘，因此也称“插车”。

ETYMOLOGY

“插车” is a variant term for “叉车”.
Both “叉” and “插” are pronounced “chā”, and both correspond to the concept of a forklift. “叉”, meaning “fork”, refers to the steel forks at the front of the vehicle that can be raised and lowered, while “插”, meaning “to insert”, refers to the action of inserting the forks into the pallets holding the goods to be lifted.
