释义

名词

指星期一至星期五。

DEFINITION

Noun

Refers to Monday to Friday.

由来
  • 英语“weekday”的意译。
  • 相对于周末(weekend),周日指的是星期一至五的工作日,即大部分人的工作日。
  • 2004年,时任总理李显龙在发表国庆献词时宣布,所有公共服务将改为五天工作周,星期六的半日工作将取消。之后,五天工作制便成为新加坡企业的主流。

ETYMOLOGY
  • The Mandarin term “周日” is a paraphrase of the English word “weekday”.
  • Weekdays refer to Monday through Friday – the “work days” for most people – in contrast to the weekends.
  • In 2004, then Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong announced a fiveday work week for the civil service during the National Day Rally, removing the previous half day of work on Saturdays. Subsequently, this arrangement became the default for companies in Singapore.
