由来

1984年，新加坡首次举行全面防卫日，日期定为每年的2月15日，以纪念新加坡于1942年2月15日沦陷与被日军占领。全面防卫日的初衷为提醒人们记得先辈在日据时期所受的苦难。
大部分的全面防卫日活动在本地学府举办，当天学校响起警报，新加坡民防部队也借此提醒和教育国人防卫的重要性。
全面防卫日有六大支柱，即军事防卫（Military Defence）、民防（Civil Defence）、经济防卫（Economic Defence）、社会防卫（Social Defence）、心理防卫（Psychological Defence）和数码防卫（Digital Defence）。数码防卫是2019年全面防卫日新增设的支柱，主要是提醒公众培养良好的上网习惯、警惕虚假的信息及培养自己的媒体素养。

ETYMOLOGY

The first Total Defence Day was observed in 1984. The date 15 February was chosen to commemorate the fall of Singapore to the Japanese in 1942. The original purpose of this day was to remind Singaporeans of the sufferings of the populace during the Japanese Occupation.
Most activities on Total Defence Day take place in local educational institutions. On this day, schools will sound the public warning system. The Singapore Civil Defence Force also takes the opportunity to remind all of the importance of total defence.
Total Defence consists of six key pillars: Military Defence, Civil Defence, Economic Defence, Social Defence, Psychological Defence and Digital Defence. Digital Defence was added in 2019 to promote fostering good cybersecurity habits, guarding against the spread of disinformation and cultivating responsible media etiquette.
