ETYMOLOGY
  • The Mandarin term “美禄恐龙” is a combination of the transliteration and paraphrase of the English term “Milo dinosaur”.
  • The Mandarin term “美禄” is the transliteration of Milo, a beverage that contains malt, milk and chocolate.
  • It is believed that the Milo dinosaur was first created by a local Indian Muslim snack stall in the 1990s. Its name was inspired by the famous 1993 movie Jurassic Park.
  • To make a Milo dinosaur, a cup of regular iced Milo is topped off with a mound of three to five tablespoons of Milo powder that sits on top of the drink.
  • Variations of the drink include Milo Godzilla and Milo King Kong. The former is a Milo dinosaur with a scoop of ice cream on top, and the latter is with two scoops of ice cream.
