  • 1950与1960年代，是新加坡争取自治和独立的时期，生于这个年代的新加坡人，经历了不少社会的动荡，也在艰难时期推动了新加坡的经济发展，为新加坡建立了稳固的基础。
  • 这个时期出生的男性是新加坡的首批国民服役人员，一些新加坡女性也提早踏入社会，以劳动力支持她们的家庭。
  • 为了认可这群为家庭和国家付出的新加坡人，在2018年的国庆群众大会上，时任总理李显龙宣布了立国一代配套（Merdeka Generation Package）。

ETYMOLOGY
  • Singapore fought for self-government and independence in the 1950s and 1960s. Singaporeans who were born in this era experienced social turmoil and promoted Singapore’s economic development in turbulent times, thus laying a sturdy foundation for Singapore.
  • Men born during this period were the first batches of National Servicemen. Some Singaporean women also entered the workforce early to support their families.
  • In recognition of the contributions of this group of Singaporeans to their families and the country, then Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong announced the Merdeka Generation Package (MGP) during the
    National Day Rally 2018.ƒ
  • Some 500,000 Singaporeans have benefited from the MGP, which includes a concession card (Passion Silver Card) top-up, MediSave topups, outpatient care subsidies and insurance incentives.
