• Handcrafted gold jewellery usually requires several processes to complete. The master craftsman has to hammer gold on a mold and undertake processes such as electroplating, carving or polishing.

He Qiancheng, president of the Singapore Pawnbrokers’ Association, said that the number of people taking advantage of the high gold prices  to sell their gold jewellery had increased by 20% to 30%, and that more people had come to re-value the gold jewellery which they had previously pawned.
