Courses offered by selected secondary schools and junior colleges to nurture students who are interested in Chinese language and Chinese literature, and have an aptitude in the language. Abbreviated in Mandarin as 语特.

由来
  • 1990年,新加坡教育部(Ministry of Education)推出了华文语文特选课程,培养华文水平较高的学生、加深学生对华文文学的认识。当时,这个课程开放给初级学院(简称初院)的学生。
  • 语特课程的学生有机会参与文学讲座、写作营、海外浸濡、校本项目及出版刊物等。
  • 在‘O’水准会考(Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level (GCE O-Level))中考取以下成绩的学生皆可报读初院的语特课程:
    一、高级华文B3;
    二、 高级华文B4及华文文学B3;
    三、华文A2。
  • 报读语特课程的初院学生需要修读新加坡剑桥普通教育证书(高级水准)(Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level)) H2华文与文学(Chinese Language and Literature [CLL])课程,也可以选择修读H3华文与文学课程。
  • 截至2022年,提供语特课程的初院数量已从1990年的两所(华侨中学(高中部)、淡马锡初级学院)扩展至五所(华侨中学(高中部)、淡马锡初级学院、南洋初级学院、裕廊先驱初级学院、德明政府中学)。
  • 2020年,新加坡教育部推出了中学华文语文特选课程(Chinese Language Elective Programme at Secondary Level [CLEP-Sec])。
  • 报读语特课程的中学生需要修读新加坡剑桥普通教育证书(普通水准)(Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education Examination [Ordinary Level])华文文学课程(完整或配对课程),直通车计划下报读语特课程的学生也需要修读学校提供的相关华文文学课程(School-based Chinese Literature for Integrated Programme (IP) students)。
  • 凡是在中学二年级的考试中考取以下成绩的学生皆可报读课程:
    一、华文A2;
    二、高级华文B3。
  • 中学的语特课程目前仅由以下几所中学提供:圣公会中学、中正中学(总校)、德明政府中学、华侨中学、海星中学、南洋女子中学、南侨中学、南华中学、淡马锡初级学院(中学部)。
  • 提供直通车课程的学校能够根据学生的成绩直接让学生报读课程。
ETYMOLOGY
  • In 1990, Singapore’s Ministry of Education (MOE) introduced the Chinese Language Elective Programme (CLEP) to nurture students with higher Chinese language proficiency and deepen their appreciation of Chinese literature. At that time, this programme was open to junior college students.
  • CLEP students have the opportunity to participate in literature seminars, writing camps, overseas immersion programmes, school-based projects and publications.
  • Students who have obtained the following results in the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level (GCE O-Level) can apply for the CLEP in junior colleges:
  1. B3 in Higher Chinese;
  2. B4 in Higher Chinese and B3 in Chinese Literature;
  3. A2 in Chinese Language.
  • Junior college students in the CLEP need to enrol in the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) H2 Chinese Language and Literature (CLL) and they can choose to enrol in H3 Chinese Language and Literature.
  • By 2022, the number of junior colleges offering the CLEP has increased from two (Hwa Chong Junior College and Temasek Junior College) in 1990 to five (Hwa Chong Institution, Temasek Junior College, Nanyang Junior College, Jurong Pioneer Junior College and Dunman High School).
  • In 2020, the MOE introduced the Chinese Language Elective Programme at Secondary Level (CLEP-Sec).
  • Secondary school students enrolled in the CLEP need to offer Literature in Chinese at the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education Examination (Ordinary Level) in full or elective. Students in the Integrated Programme enrolled in the CLEP need to offer the School-based Chinese Literature for Integrated Programme (IP) students.
  • Students who have obtained the following results in the Secondary Two examinations can enrol in the course:
  1. A2 in Chinese Language;
  2. B3 in Higher Chinese.
  • The CLEP-Sec is currently only offered at the following secondary schools: Anglican High School, Chung Cheng High School (Main), Dunman High School, Hwa Chong Institution (High School), Maris Stella Secondary School, Nanyang Girls’ High School, Nan Chiau High School, Nan Hua High School and Temasek Junior College (Secondary).
  • Schools offering the IP can directly enrol their students in the programme based on their grades.
