Debris

Definition: The remains of something that has been destroyed/demolished

Example: After the collision of 2 ships, large amounts of debris was washed up on the beach.

Debt

• A liability or obligation to pay or render something
• The condition of being under such an obligation
• Theology; an offense requiring reparation; a sin; a trespass

Example: Don’t spend more than you earn or you’ll soon accumulate a large credit card debt.

Definition: The first appearance of someone in public, especially in a show

Example: He made his debut performance when he was just four years old.

Defer

Definition: To delay taking action, usually in order to wait for the opinion of someone else

Example: He tried to defer his enlistment to a later date so he could go on his honeymoon.

Definition: To appoint someone else to do a job for you.

Definition: To make an initial partial payment for something, as a guarantee that you will buy it

Example: Every month I deposit some money into my savings account.

Definitions:

• A place for the storage of large quantities of goods
• A place where buses, trains, or other vehicles are housed and maintained
• A railway or bus station

Example: The bus refuelled at the depot.

Deteriorate

Definition: To become worse

Example: Despite the intensive treatment, her health continued to deteriorate.

Differ

Definition: To be unlike something else, or to have a different opinion

Example: Although your views differ from ours, we will find a way to come to an agreement.

Diplomatic

Definition: Involving the relationships between countries

Example: Her diplomatic approach to sensitive issues literally saved the day.

Disaster

Definition: An unfortunate event that causes great hardship to many people

Example: Early warnings of natural disasters such as earthquakes can help save lives.

Divorce

Definition: To end a marriage officially

Example: Marriage counselling is advised. Divorce is the really the last option.

Dysfunctional

Definition: Not behaving or working normally

Example: His kidneys are sadly dysfunctional, that’s why he needs to go for dialysis treatment.

Dyslexia

Definition: A difficulty with reading and writing caused by a problem in the brain

Example: My son has dyslexia and that’s why he reads slower than others.
