在本地,米苔目也俗称“老鼠粉”。“老鼠粉”的由来有这样的传说:米苔目形状像老鼠屎,原本就叫“老鼠屎粉”,但因为名称不雅也令人倒胃,后来就删去屎字,叫“老鼠粉”。
In Singapore, bee tai mak is also known as “老鼠粉” (literally, “rat noodles”). As the shape of bee tai mak resembles rat droppings, it was actually originally known as “老鼠屎粉”, but over time, the off-putting word “屎” (faeces) was dropped.
