ETYMOLOGY
  • The term “冲凉” originates from the Cantonese dialect.
  • 冲凉” has the same meaning as the Mandarin term “洗澡”. It can refer to a simple wash by splashing oneself with water or a careful wash by scrubbing.
  • The character “” (cool) in “冲凉” does not refer to the water temperature, but rather the refreshing and comfortable feeling after washing the body.
  • In Singapore, whether it is showering or washing oneself in other ways, using either hot or cold water, the act is known as “冲凉”.
