释义

名词

一种以谈话为主的电视或广播节目。也称“脱口秀”。

DEFINITION

Noun

A television or radio programme whose main content is conversation. Also known in Mandarin as “脱口秀”.

ETYMOLOGY
  • The Mandarin term “脱口秀” is a paraphrase and transliteration of the English term “talk show”.
  • In a talk show, the host and guests will usually have an unscripted discussion about a certain topic.
  • Guests usually come from a variety of backgrounds and age groups, thus representing views from all walks of life.
  • Talk shows allow viewers or listeners to hear different takes on hot topics.
  • Besides bread-and-butter issues, more provocative topics are also sometimes discussed, for example “Can women have affairs too?” or “Is a domestic helper a saviour or a bane?”
  • In consideration of the “timeliness” of the topics discussed, talk shows usually require shooting and editing to proceed simultaneously with broadcasting, thus making production extremely challenging.
例句
