  • 1990 年代末，新加坡的世界贸易中心（World Trade Center）展览空间被拆除，因此需要一个能容下超过 34，000 平方米的展览的室内场所来代替。
  • 新加坡博览中心的建造于 1997 年 5 月 30 日开始动工。由于中心的地理位置偏僻，而且受到当时金融危机的影响，其使用率并不高。

ETYMOLOGY
  • The Mandarin term “新加坡博览中心” is a paraphrase of the English term “Singapore EXPO Convention and Exhibition Centre” (Singapore Expo).
  • Singapore Expo was officially opened in 1999 to alleviate the shortage of space for hosting major international exhibitions.
  • In the late 1990s, due to the demolition of exhibition spaces in Singapore's World Trade Centre, there was a need for an indoor venue of over 34,000 square metres as a replacement.
  • Construction of the Singapore Expo began on 30 May 1997. Due to its remote location and the impact of the financial crisis at the time, it was not well utilised.
  • However, since the construction of the Expo MRT station in 2001, visitor numbers have improved significantly.
  • Singapore Expo has 10 exhibition halls with a floor area of approximately 100,000 square metres.
  • Every year, Singapore EXPO hosts an average of 600 large-scale events, and welcomes approximately 6,000,000 visitors. Events at the Expo include exhibitions, conferences, award ceremonies, concerts, and banquets.
  • During the outbreak of Covid-19, Singapore Expo was used as one of the community isolation facilities from April 2020 to January 2021.
