  • 新加拳起源于1985年。由于当时新加坡武术教练学会（Singapore Martial Arts Instructors’ Association）有许多派别，基于团结的精神，他们决定发明一种属于本地的新武术。最后，学会决定让赵师傅负责创造。

ETYMOLOGY
  • The Mandarin term “新加拳” is a paraphrase of the English term “Singafist”.
  • The inventor of Singafist is Master Teo Choon Teck.
  • Singafist was first created in 1985. As there were many factions then in the Singapore Martial Arts Instructors’ Association, in the spirit of solidarity, they decided to invent a new type of martial art unique to Singapore. Eventually, the association decided that Master Teo would be responsible for creating it.
  • Singafist blends martial arts moves represented by each of the eight masters of the Singapore Martial Arts Instructors’ Association.
  • The eight moves are Silat, Taekwondo, Karate, Northern Shaolin Kungfu, Southern Shaolin Kungfu, Judo, Aikido and Silambam.
  • When Singafist first started classes, students came from various ethnic backgrounds and their number reached the thousands.
  • Today, this martial art has gradually declined and the number of students has decreased significantly. In 2017, there are only about ten people still practising Singafist.
