A structure used for the collection and temporary storage of refuse. Also known in Mandarin as “垃圾收集站”.

由来
  • 新加坡的组屋区里都有垃圾房，以集中区内每家每户所丢弃的垃圾。
  • 组屋区里的垃圾被集中后，会由国家环境局（National Environment Agency）的有关人员收集并处理。垃圾被运送到转运站后，便会经过压缩处理送往焚化场焚化，焚化后的灰烬将被送往垃圾掩埋场填埋。
  • 除了组屋区，垃圾房也设在一些小贩中心、巴刹、商贸区及工业区里。
  • 1989年之前建造的组屋采用了个人垃圾收集系统（Individual Refuse Collection System），垃圾从住户到垃圾房的运送过程是靠清洁工人人工搬运。
  • 2014年，建屋发展局（Housing & Development Board，简称“建屋局”）在裕华（Yuhua）的选定组屋区，对气动垃圾收集系统 （Pneumatic Waste Conveyance System）进行试点。这是通过地下管道直接从住屋将垃圾输往垃圾房的方式。
ETYMOLOGY
  • Singapore’s Housing & Development Board (HDB) estates are all built with bin centres, where household refuse is collected.
  • Personnel from the National Environment Agency (NEA) convey the refuse from the bin centres to a transfer station, where the refuse is compacted before being sent to an incinerator, after which the ash is sent to landfills to be buried.
  • Bin centres can also be found at hawker centres, wet markets, commercial districts and industrial areas.
  • HDB flats built before 1989 adopted the Individual Refuse Collection System, in which the transport of refuse from households to bin centres was manually carried out by cleaners.
  • In 2014, HDB conducted a trial of the Pneumatic Waste Conveyance System (PWCS) in selected HDB blocks in Yuhua. Under this system, trash is conveyed directly from households to bin centres via underground pipes.
