  • 英语 “soya puff” 的音意兼译。在福建话中,“豆卜” 念成 tau pok,而 pok 即是英语 “puff” 的音译。
  • 豆卜的主要做法是将发酵后的豆花进行油炸而成。
  • 由于豆卜的味道不重,并且非常能吸收其他食材的味道,因此能搭配各种食材,烹煮多道美食。
  • 在本地,豆卜是罗杂、沙爹米粉、叻沙、酿豆腐等美食的重要食材之一。

ETYMOLOGY
  • The Mandarin term “豆卜” is a combination of the transliteration and a paraphrase of the English term “soya puff”. In Hokkien, 豆卜is pronounced as tau pok, in which pok is the transliteration of the English term “puff”.
  • Tau pok is made by deep frying fermented bean curd.
  • As tau pok does not have a strong taste and can absorb the flavour of other ingredients very well, it can be used with various ingredients to produce many dishes.
  • Tau pok is one of the important ingredients in local delicacies such as rojak, satay beehoon, laksa, and yong tau foo.
  • Tau pok is a non-meat protein that is rich in antioxidants and is sold in supermarkets and local markets.
