由来
  • 源于福建话（闽南话）的phian ue 一词。
  • 骗人的话应该称为“谎话”，但新加坡人常用“骗话”来指谎话。该词多用于口语。
  • “骗话”一词常和“讲”一起搭配使用，如 “讲骗话”指的是说谎。
ETYMOLOGY

  • The term originated from the Hokkien (Minnan)  phrase phian ue. 

  • In Singapore, the term is commonly used in spoken language to refer to “lies”. However, the corresponding phrase in Mandarin should be “谎话”.

  • The term “骗话” (lies) is often used together with “讲” (to tell), to form the phrase, “讲骗话” (to tell lies).

虽然之前有调查显示国人对于自己能否辨别假新闻的能力非常有信心，但总理警惕说，假新闻未必能轻易辨别。总理解释说，其中一类假新闻是人们完全不知道的事，也无从断定对方所说是实话还是骗话。（《联合早报》，29/4/2019）
SAMPLE SENTENCE
Even though previous surveys had shown that Singaporeans are confident in their ability to identify fake news, the Prime Minister cautioned that it may not be as easy as it seems. He explained that there exists a type of fake news regarding which people know nothing about.
