由来

草粿草（Platostoma palustre）又名仙人草，即 “仙草” 一词的由来。
仙草是来自中国东南沿海地区的著名小吃，常常作为配料加入各种甜品中，或直接当饮料食用，后者也称仙草水。
有说法认为仙草有清热消暑的效果，因此在亚洲多个地区都广受欢迎，主要用来制作清爽可口的甜品。
新加坡的特色饮料 “黑白”（也称 “Michael Jackson”），就是在豆奶中加入仙草丝而得名。

ETYMOLOGY

Chinese mesona (Platostoma palustre) is also known in Mandarin as “仙人草” , which is the origin of the term “仙草” (grass jelly).
Grass jelly is a famous snack from China’s southeastern coastal areas. It is often added to various desserts as a topping, or consumed directly as a beverage known in Mandarin as “仙草水”.
It is believed that grass jelly has cooling properties, making it popular in many parts of Asia, where it is mainly used to make refreshing and delicious desserts.
Singapore’s special drink “黑白” (also known as “Michael Jackson”) is named after adding shredded grass jelly to soya bean milk.
