由来
  • 较常在潮州话、福建话等方言中使用。
  • 含有正面和负面的意思。
  • 正面的用法是叫一个人不要怕,要提起勇气去做事。
  • 负面的用法是当一个人做错事被责怪时,责怪他的人会把做错的事在“敢敢”的后面提及,目的是要让他们反省自己做错了什么事。
ETYMOLOGY
  • This term is more commonly used in the Teochew and Hokkien dialects.
  • It can be used in both a positive and negative sense.
  • Used positively, the term is for telling a person not to be afraid and to have the courage to do something.
  • Used negatively, when a person is being reprimanded by another for committing a mistake, the latter will tag the mention of the mistake behind the term “敢敢”, to make the wrongdoer reflect on the brazenness of their actions.

例句
但同样是黄梨,价位不一,有的较实惠,买得甘心,有的显嚣张,也不见得黄梨的个头比别人大多少,又不见得特别可口,却敢敢卖得较同类产品贵很多。(《联合早报》,8/4/2021)
SAMPLE SENTENCE
The prices of the pineapples vary wildly. Most sellers’ prices are reasonable and good value, but some are daringly selling their pineapples at sky-high prices, even though their pineapples are not any bigger or better. (Lianhe Zaobao, 8/4/2021)
