位于新加坡西北部的地区。此地区与北部的双溪加株 (Sungei Kadut)，西南的登加 (Tengah)，东南的武吉巴督 (Bukit Batok)，东部的武吉班让 (Bukit Panjang)和西部的集水区共享一个边界。

An area located in the north-western part of Singapore. This area shares boundaries with Sungei Kadut in the north, Tengah in the southwest, Bukit Batok in the southeast, Bukit Panjang in the east and a catchment area in the west.

由来
  • 蔡厝港的名称与潮州话的“港主”有关。“港”指的是河岸，而“主”则代表着主人的意思，也就是负责开发该地区种植园的首领。“厝”原指宅屋，后延伸出乡镇的意思，因此由蔡姓港主所开发的乡镇，被称为蔡厝港。
  • 19世纪时期，柔佛州苏丹（Sultan of Johor）以港主制度治理新加坡，并颁发港契给蔡福义来开发蔡厝港一带的土地。蔡福义被称为蔡厝港的港主，蔡厝港因此得名。
  • 早期，蔡厝港区的居民多以种植甘密，胡椒为生。到了60年代，居民种植的农作物逐渐多元化，开始有了黄梨，橡胶，椰子等，并发展成为果园及菜园。有一些居民也饲养家禽，及靠捕鱼为业。目前，蔡厝港区已经没有这些果园，养殖场与菜园了。
  • 60年代，蔡厝港区有许多特殊的行业，如饲养牛蛙、鳄鱼、乌龟等。因此，蔡厝港享有“新加坡的小关丹”之称。
  • 1977年，新加坡政府在蔡厝港的德惠（Teck Whye）路上建立了蔡厝港的第一个组屋区。
ETYMOLOGY
  • The name originated from the Teochew dialect term “港主” (kang chu), which translates as "owner of the port". “港” refers to the riverbank, while “主” denotes “owner”, referring to the leader responsible for developing the plantations in the area. The character “厝” originally referred to house, but its meaning eventually extended to town and village. Hence, Choa Chu Kang was so named as it was a town developed by the leader of the area whose surname was Choa.
  • In the 19th century, the Sultan of Johor governed Singapore with the kang chu system, and issued a deed to Choa Hock Yi for him to develop the land in the Choa Chu Kang area. As Choa Hock Yi became known as the owner of the Choa Chu Kang area, the area was named after him.
  • The early inhabitants in the Choa Chu Kang area mostly grew gambier and pepper. By the 1960s, more and more plants were cultivated in the area, starting with pineapple, rubber, coconut, and coconut trees. The area eventually developed into one filled with fruit and vegetable plantations. Some residents also raised poultry and relied on fishing for a living. Today, the fruit and vegetable plantations, and poultry farms have disappeared from Choa Chu Kang.
  • In the 1960s, there were many special industries in Choa Chu Kang, such as bullfrog, crocodile, and tortoise breeding farms. As a result, Choa Chu Kang enjoys the title of “Little Kuantan of Singapore”.
  • Choa Chu Kang’s first housing estate was established on Teck Whye Road in 1977by the Singapore government.
